Today Robin found the following German film by chance. It is about the last weeks of the war in March/April 1945 and a deserter who, thanks to a stolen uniform like the Captain of Köpenick, can assemble his own troops, especially with other deserters who are glad to be allowed to report to an officer who is in no hurry to go to the front.
He invents an order to ensure “law and order” behind the front and gets involved in war crimes (e.g. murder of other deserters), which he then pushes forward so as not to be exposed himself. His troops and other actors, who suspect the fraud, support him because they need the wrong captain for different motivations, partly to save themselves.
Anyone who has ever experienced inner conflicts or tried to live a fake identity will love this film!
