Robin has written an English version of the song “Bevor der Tag erwacht” (Before the day awakens) from his 2007 release Nachtgesaenge. The music is soon to follow, the keyboards need yet to be recorded and then comes the mix-down. In the meantime enjoy the lyrics!
Until the Morning Breaks
The raging winds outside, the hut is deep in snow.
Apart from you there is no other human soul,
The winter storm it howls, it’s banging at the door.
The pictures on the walls, already pale and old
You look away and you are shivering and cold.
Ghosts from forgotten graves, they come to you and meet.
You just say “Hi” and start to write on this sheet.
There is night, there is darkness, and no sign of the day.
There is night, and the wolves, they howl from far away.
In somber silence you sit in here and wait –
Until the morning breaks.
The dark seems endless while the storm is chasing snow.
The fire in the hearth has died so long ago.
And it is cold, no dawning day that is in sight.
Proclaim the coming morn’, although it is still far.
It is announced already by the morning star!
Each deep abyss will just be flooded with the light.
That’s why you just won’t be disturbed by this night.
There is night, there is darkness, and the night is still long.
There is night, in the distance the wolves sing their song.
In somber silence you sit in here and wait
Until the morning breaks.
There is night, there is darkness, and no sign of the day
There is night, and the wolves, they howl from far away.
In somber silence you sit in here and wait…
