A total of 200 mountaineers were killed in an accident while attempting to climb Mount Everest. Their bodies are still lying there and their ghosts are probably haunting them – which inspired Robin to write the following lines:

Two-hundred ghosts that haunt the top

Two-hundred who are dead.

Two-hundred bodies that don’t rot.

Preserved in ice instead.

No air to breathe here high above

The air is much too thin.

The highest place on Earth, my love.

And always it has been.

No-one will ever take them down

To bury them away

No-one will ever come around

The dead are here to stay.
