Ex Machina (2014)

Today we read Robin’s thoughts on the ski-fi/thriller/drama Ex Machina, directed by Andy Garland.

Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson), a young programmer, is sent to test whether a female humanoid android named Ava (Alicia Vikander) has convincing artificial intelligence. To do so, he is invited to a secluded mansion underground inhabited by Nathan (Oscar Isaac), the reclusively strange CEO of his company Blue Book, the operator of the largest internet search engine on Earth. Ava flirts with Caleb and warns him about Nathan, who tells him after work that Ava is just manipulative. Nathan wants to kill Ava and replace her with a more advanced successor model. Caleb wants to flee with Ava. But is Nathan lying?

Robin’s Thoughts:
A very gripping film with an outstanding female lead and many unexpected twists.

Absolutely worth seeing!
