Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. (Søren Kierkegaard)
Thinking back Robin needs to correct his former assumption; namely that a former band member was the punishment for Robin’s former life and thus that Karma is a bitch.
He has a better explanation now:
He and his brother once had book with occult incantations once and tried one of it one night. They tried to invoke a demon named Lucifuge and Robin’s younger brother said “Dear Lucifuge! By the soul of my older brother, come forth!” He didn’t, but the other day a seemingly nice musician who was particularly evil underneath the surface came along and joined Robin’s band.
This can only mean one thing: Lucifuge and that man were one and the same person.
Robin never did any incantation again.
However, he apologizes: “Dear Karma, no offence!”
